People often talk about work life balance. If we were to take the word balance literally, it would mean equal. That would suggest that we spend an equal amount of time at work and in our personal lives. This is simply not the case. We are in an era where work and life are infused and this is largely due to the introduction on technology; work creeps into our personal lives and our personal lives creep into our work lives…it is a blend so to speak.
Technology has shifted the way we work. It is no longer a 9-5 day.
Work life integration is a more fitted term and idea that will help frame how work and life can be in harmony. Chitra Anand has worked in the tech space for over 20 years with some of the world’s most notable organisations. Women who want to study, work in, and lead businesses in science and technology have much to add and should be proactively empowered to do so.
Only 18% of undergraduate computer science degrees and 26% of computing jobs are held by women. It’s worse at the top of the corporate world—just 5% of leadership positions in the technology industry are held by women.
A better question might be, how can we collectively work to improve women’s participation in the tech industry at each key stage of their careers? The problem is far deeper than stats. They are embedded in our culture, language and biases that we all hold; both as men and women. How do we uncover what these are and how do we take those insights to drive real sustained change? I have always believed that understanding the context is key to any successful project.
With a deep understanding of how research is conducted and interpreted, I will partner with you to conduct research in your respective areas regardless of what kind of project it is. As a data scientist, the topics can range from understanding consumer behaviour, trends in the market, cultural relevance, new technologies or social purpose. I will develop key insights in the form of a white paper, infographic or simply synthesizing information which can influence product design, marketing campaigns or business decisions at large.

The best marketers are storytellers. It is a fact that we retain stories more than data.
While this may seem obvious, it can be a very challenging concept to grasp and distill. I will work with your organization to answer critical questions like; what are you in the business of doing and why is it relevant? How do you create a story when your product or service is a by product of that service…in other workds the enabler. How can you shift your narrative to be the enabler?
